Three UAH Alumni win third prize in 'Port of Cultures' International Architecture Competition

Eduardo Cilleruelo, Alejandro Carrasco Hidalgo and Angela Molina Calzada, UAH Alumni School of Architecture, have received this recognition from the city of Mariupol, Ukraine.

The three architects work together under the ACT signature. The aim of this contest is to provide a new museum for the city recovering a representative building, was destroyed by the civil war that lives part of the country. The draft submitted is entitled 'A New Beginning'. It aims to be an important part of the collective memory of the city, preserving the historical character of the pre-existing building consolidated over the years due to the different events that have taken place there.

Although it is necessary to transform the building to accommodate its new use as a cultural center, the project proposes to do so respecting its origin and putting it in value preserving the ancient front. It will be divided into different spaces: exhibition rooms, public areas and educational and work spaces. Each zone has a double intention, allowing space to change depending on the themes or needs of the exhibition.
