An AlumniUAH wins the Defense Research Award 2020 for her doctoral thesis

María del Carmen García Pérez has won the Defense Research Award, in the category of postgraduate studies, for the doctoral thesis 'Historical identity of the Spanish Navy: A critical analysis around the General Journal of Marina (1877-1936)', defended in December 2019 under the direction of Antonio Manuel Moral Roncal, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Alcalá.

The work makes a conscientious analysis of the articles and papers published in the General Journal of the Navy in the period under consideration, drawing interesting and original conclusions about the evolution of both the Navy and the Spanish society itself.

The contribution that the work makes to better understand that evolution, in both technical and sociological terms, is an important contribution to the diffusion of the Defense Culture, so it fits perfectly with the purpose of the Award.

The Ministry of Defense has highlighted 'the contribution that the work makes to better understand this evolution, in both technical and sociological terms, is an important contribution to the diffusion of the Spanish Defense Culture, so it´s perfectly adapted to the purpose of the Award'.
